The New Jersey state lacrosse playoffs got underway on Wednesday as JSZ brings you a trio of first round matchups from around the Garden State. Check back as the highlights are posted throughout the night!
Washington Township 18 Toms River North 3 | Boys | South Group 4 First Round
It was a day that the Washington Township (13-6) lacrosse team will cherish. Not only did they reach the sectional quarterfinals for the first time since 2021, but one of the program’s records now has a new name at the top. Junior FOGO Parker Reese finished with 20 face-off wins, setting the all-time record at Twp. with 492 career FOW. The fifth-seeded Minutemen took down twelfth-seeded Toms River North (14-7) and will face the winner of Egg Harbor Township and Cherokee in the next round.

Barnegat 20 Cedar Creek 2 | Boys | South Group 2 First Round
The sixth-seeded Bengals blew things open with a nine-goal surge in the second quarter as the rolled past the eleventh-seeded Pirates to open the South Group 2 playoffs. Dominican University commit Jakob Jason went for a game-high five goals, while Keegan Dunn added four goals in the victory. Jason McHale finished with a hat trick for Barnegat (18-3). Frank Ciambrone netted a pair of goals in the loss for Cedar Creek (13-6). Barnegat will face the winner of Ocean City and Oakcrest in the South Group 2 quarterfinals next Monday.

Toms River East 16 Steinert 6 | Boys | South Group 3 First Round
Gerard Uzzolino had five goals and five assists for a 10 point game and Nick Caruso added five goals and two assists as Toms River East raced out to a 15-0 first half lead to advance to the second round of the state playoffs. Uzzolino reached the 100 point mark in his sophomore season and is tied with Caruso at 107 points for the team lead in scoring. TRE will face the winner of Northern Burlington and West Deptford on Monday.
