We turn the calendar to April and take another trip around diamond for some great high school baseball action. Check back as the highlights are posted throughout the night!

Immaculata 2 Bridgewater-Raritan 1 (13 Innings)

The Spartans’ dream opening day came true as they downed the reigning Group 4 state champions in an extra-inning thriller. Freshman Luca Catanzarite went 3-4 on the day, but delivered his biggest hit in the bottom of the 13th inning. That hit was a base knock that turned walk-off RBI single to seal the win in a four-hour, 14-minute marathon game. Immaculata (1-0) leaned on their pitching staff – Ryan Auten and Cole Raymond combined for six of out of the 13 innings and had 14 of Immaculata’s 18 strikeouts. Bridgewater-Raritan (0-1) pieced together six hits in the loss and kept the game alive with an exciting play at the plate to close out the 11th inning.

CJ Dybus registered his first varsity hit and went for 3 RBIs, while Tommy Truzzolino added a pair of RBIs in the victory. Chase Macri (5 IP, 1 ER, 5 K’s) and Vinny Tremeterra (2 IP, 0 ER, 5 K’s) combined for a three-hitter on the mound for Central Regional (2-0). Cole Hurley drew a bases loaded walk to score the lone run of the day and Nick Lynch made some great defensive plays in the loss for Freehold Boro (1-1).

The Rams surged in the bottom of the 5th, scoring two runs to secure their 3rd win on the season and remaining the only undefeated team in the Colonial Valley Conference. Josh Klena started for Notre Dame (2-2) and struck out 10 in his 5 innings of action.
