Seton Hall Prep 5 Pope John 2 | Non-Public First Round

The Pirates emerged from a wild second period with a lead and held that lead to secure their first playoff win since 2020. Four different players scored, including a game-high two goals from Ryan Murray in the win for eighth-seeded Seton Hall Prep (11-10-1). Freshman goalie Cayden Hoyler gave up a pair of goals in the second period but buckled down in the final frame to finish with 15 saves in the victory over ninth-seeded Pope John (14-6-1). The Pirates advance to face top-seeded Delbarton in the Non-Public quarterfinals on Thursday, 4pm at SportsCare Arena.

St. Augustine 9 Pingry 2 | Non-Public First Round

The Hermits trailed 1-0 early then exploded for eight-straight goals as they powered past the Big Blue and into the state quarterfinals. Riley Capecci had a goal and three assists to lead the way for fourth-seeded St. Augustine (10-8). Ayden Whitehurst, Cameron DeLeo, and CJ Mistichelli each had a goal and a pair of assists in the victory. Tyler Jones and Josh Angel netted goals in the loss for 13-seed Pingry (10-10). The two-time defending state champion Hermits will host St. Joseph (Mont.) on Thursday.

Manalapan 2 Scotch Plains-Fanwood 0 | South Public First Round

John Honovic and Thomas Lena scored first period goals 17 seconds apart and Christian Esposito was sensational making 56 saves for the shutout to give the Braves a spot in the South Public Quarterfinals.  Esposito reached 1,000 career saves in the victory.  Manalapan (10-10-3) will face second seed Westfield on Thursday.  Scotch Plains-Fanwood finished the year with a 17-6-3 record.
