Two more championships are up for grabs on the final Sunday of the regular season. Plainfield and Roselle Catholic duke it out for the Union County Tournament title while Blair Academy clashes with The Patrick School for the inaugural NJ Prep Open championship. Plainfield 66 Roselle Catholic 53 | Boys | Union County Tournament Final

The rubber match between two of the state’s best programs goes in favor of the Cardinals, who took home their first UCT championship since 2012. Micah Gordon led Plainfield (23-3) with 18 points while NaJai Hines had 16 points and 18 rebounds in the win. Plainfield also got a sizable boost from their supporting cast – Marcus Richards had nine points and Kamai Lowery chipped in eight points. The Cardinals’ biggest lead of the game – a 21-point advantage – came midway through the third quarter. Tyrease Hunter had a game-high 21 points and he helped Roselle Catholic (20-6) battle back in the fourth quarter to make it a five-point game before Plainfield shut the door.

Blair Academy 88 The Patrick School 75 | Boys | NJ Prep Open Final

Deron Rippey, Jr. was sensational with 16 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds and three steals and Jaen Chatman scored 19 of his 25 in the second half to give Blair Academy a second straight New Jersey Prep Championship.  The Bucs (24-4) had five players in double digits with Brendan Oliver and Mayo Soyoye scoring 13 points and Boston College commit Jack Bailey scoring 12.  The Patrick School was led by Illinois commit Brandon Lee who scored 16 and Jaysean Williams scored his 2000th career point.
