Girls’ basketball takes centerstage Friday night as we take a tour around New Jersey for some of the biggest games on the ladies’ side. West Orange stuns Montclair Immaculate in a defensive battle, Manasquan overwhelms St. Rose to earn a season sweep and Gloucester Catholic punches their ticket to the SJIBT final in a close one over Lenape. Manasquan 52 Saint Rose 26 | Girls
Shea Donnelly had 20 points and Olivia Shaughnessy had 14 as the Warriors played elite defense holding the Purple Roses to just five points in the second and third quarters to clinch the Shore Conference’s “A” Central division outright. Manasquan (17-3) outscored Saint Rose 13-1 in the third quarter and is projected to be the top seed in the upcoming Shore Conference Tournament.

West Orange 41 Montclair Immaculate 32 | Girls
The Mountaineers crafted a masterful defensive game plan to stun the Lions in a physical Super Essex Conference battle. Anaya Karriem led the way with 13 points, 18 rebounds and five blocks in the statement win for West Orange (16-5). Kyley Gary-Grayson (11 points) and Rhyan Watt (10 points) reached double figures in the win. Montclair Immaculate (13-6) did not have a player score double figures in the loss. West Orange held IC to nine points at the half and the Lions were outscored 16-7 in the fourth quarter.

Gloucester Catholic 49 Lenape 48 | Girls | SJIBT Semifinal
Jahzara Green sank the go-ahead basket with 6.9 seconds remaining then blocked a potential game-winning shot at the buzzer to send the Rams to the SJIBT title game. Green finished with 14 points and Amanda Eggers had a team-high 16 points for third-seeded Gloucester Catholic (17-3). Alexa Henry hit six three-pointers on her way to a game-high 20 points, while El-Anita Joe-Samuel went for 16 points in the loss for second-seeded Lenape (14-3). Gloucester Catholic will face top-seed Paul VI for the SJIBT title on Sunday at Eastern Regional High School.
