Tournament season is quickly winding down and we’ve got a trio of games from the CAL and Shore Conference tournaments. St. Augustine is once again a champion and the final two girls’ teams in the Shore are decided. Check out all of our coverage as it rolls in today!
St. Augustine 1 Hammonton 0 (2OT) | Cape-Atlantic League Tournament Final | Boys
Fischer Brogan delivered a golden goal in the 92nd minute as the Hermits secured a third-straight CAL Tournament championship. The fourth-ranked Hermits overcame a red card in the 22nd minute, and extended a 33-match winning streak against Cape-Atlantic League opponents. Matt Carr had five saves and picked up a clean sheet for St. Augustine (16-0). Harrison Kiss racked up 12 saves in net for Hammonton (10-5-2).

Gabby Mellet’s swift right foot shot in the 92nd minute powered the Panthers to a long-awaited return to the SCT championship game. Abby Hannemann set the goal up with a perfectly-placed service to set up the win for Point Pleasant Boro (13-1-2). Howell (12-5) played a great game and showed they deserved to be among the final four girls teams in the Shore this season.

Freehold Township 2 Lacey 1 | Shore Conference Tournament Semifinal | Girls
Albana Gjonbalaj and Ashley Tonino staked the Patriots to a 2-0 lead and Freehold Township hung on to reach the Shore Conference Tournament championship game against Point Pleasant Boro. Gjonbalaj hit a lefty bender to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute. In the 59th, Courtney Speck’s shot hit the crossbar allowing Tonino to pounce on the rebound to give the Patriots a two goal advantage. Lacey got a goal from Natalie McGovern at the 70 minute mark but the Lions couldn’t find the equalizer in the final 10 minutes.
