Just weeks after mashing his way into New Jersey record books, Luke Dickerson smashed a MLB Draft record payday.

Dickerson was selected by the Washington Nationals in the second round with the 44th overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft earlier this month. The Morris Knolls star inked a $3.8 million signing bonus this morning, according to MLB.com reporter Jim Callis. The deal goes down as the highest signing bonus in the bonus pool era for a player drafted outside of the first round and the supplemental first round.

Dickerson made countless headlines this spring with a senior season for the ages. He clobbered 18 home runs, tying a New Jersey single season record held by Mike Trout and Ashton Bardzell. The senior served as Morris Knolls’ leadoff hitter and batted .467 with a massive 1.086 slugging percentage. Dickerson had 49 hits, scored 64 runs and stole 27 bases this season.

He won two straight Group 3 state championships with his baseball team and was a top performer on Knolls’ hockey state championship team this winter.
