The road to the state finals at Seton Hall University continued on Tuesday with state semifinal action all across the Garden State. Check back as the highlights are posted throughout the night!
Watchung Hills 6 Morristown 1 | Group 4 State Semifinal
Mia Simon’s towering grand slam in the top of the sixth inning was just the boost the Warriors needed to reach the Group 4 state final for the second time in three seasons. Watchung Hills (27-3) was trailing 1-0 before the game-changing home run. Simon was also masterful from the circle, pitching 4.1 n0-hit innings in relief. The Warriors are set to play Vineland in the Group 4 championship game on Friday.

Vineland 16 Marlboro 5 | Group 4 State Semifinal
Megan Harrell-Alvarez had a monster game with four hits, three runs scored and seven RBI’s highlighted by a three run bomb in the top of the 6th that went deep into the woods to give the Fighting Clan a 6-inning win and a spot in the Group 4 state championship game. Vineland will battle Watchung Hills for the state title at Seton Hall University this Friday.

Steinert 2 Moorestown 1 | Group 3 State Semifinal
Mia Pope’s base hit to left gave the Spartans a walk-off win and a spot in the Group 3 state championship against Morris Knolls. Moorestown had a 1-0 lead through six innings thanks to stellar pitching from Violet Marta and an RBI single from Baylee DeAngelo before Steinert rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Steinert’s Gianna DiMeglio robbed Moorestown of a two run homer in the third inning when she leaped at the fence in centerfield to make a sensational catch.

Haddon Twp. 6 New Egypt 0 | Group 1 State Semifinal
Sienna commit Jordan Strauss turned in a sensational performance to guide the Hawks to its first state final since 1979. Strauss fired a complete game shutout with 13 strikeouts, and added a RBI single in the victory. Jamie Kozarski and Alexis Bordi each knocked in a pair of runs for South champion Haddon Twp. (21-6). Central champion New Egypt (16-10) saw a great run end after winning its first sectional title since 2016. The Hawks will face Cedar Grove for the Group 1 state championship on Friday at Ivy Hill Park.
