New Rutgers head coach Chris Ash scores his first commitment from the Shore Conference as Toms River North WR/DB Bryce Watts gives his verbal pledge to stay in-state on Easter Sunday.  Watch SSZ highlights of the dynamic junior on both sides of the ball

Toms River North wide receiver and defensive back Bryce Watts gave the Rutgers Scarlet Knights an Easter commitment to play college football in-state for first year head coach Chris Ash.  Watts made the announcement via his Twitter feed on Sunday:

Watts had 21 catches for 287 yards and 3 TD’s to go along with 8 carries for 118 yards and a score for a Toms River North team that won the South Jersey Group 5 championship.

Ash is the first year head coach who has made it a priority to recruit heavily in-state.  Last year, the Shore Conference had a number of high profile Division I recruits, none of whom had Rutgers on their radar.  Watts commitment starts off the 2017 recruiting season in our backyard.
