Franklin 50 Manasquan 48

Freshman Kennedy Schenck grabbed a rebound off a missed three-point attempt and hit a mid-range jumper as time expired to give Franklin a 50-48 win and give Manasquan a heartbreaking end to an incredible season.  Manasquan held a 17-7 lead at the end of one quarter and a 28-23 lead at the half, but Franklin would battle to take a third quarter lead thanks to sophomore Diamond Miller.  Miller had 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.  The two teams traded leads throughout the fourth quarter.  Faith Masonius had a clutch drive to tie the game at 48 with :13 seconds to go.  Miller went for the win for Franklin, but her three-point attempt was off, but Schenck was able to tap the rebound to herself and sink the game winning shot.  Clark led Manasquan with 17 points, while Mabrey added 15.  It’s the fourth straight trip to the T of C for Manasquan, who finishes the year with a 31-3 record.  Watch highlights from a thrilling finale to the 2016-17 high school basketball season:
