Long Branch’s Vinny Mota booted three field goals to take home team MVP honors and Jackson Memorial’s Matt Castronuova took home a 102 yard kickoff return to open the second half to highlight the South’s second straight win over the North in the Phil Simms All-Star Football Classic.  17 Shore Conference players were on the South roster.  Lacey quarterback Conor Davies shared signal calling duties with Toms River South’s Tymere Berry. Davies threw a third quarter TD pass in the victory.  SSZ has extended highlights and post-game reaction with Simms, Mota and Castronuova:

 

 

 

This is the second year that former New York Giants quarterback and current CBS Sports analyst Phil Simms has hosted the All-Star game.  Simms was thrilled with the growth shown in year two and plans to make it one of the premiere summer All-Star games in high school football.  Simms spent time with both squads during their four practice sessions as well as on gameday.
