Marvin Pierre stole the ball from Pat Andree and went the length of the floor to give Mater Dei its first lead of the game with 40 seconds left and spark an amazing comeback.  Pierre had a basket and foul and added a free throw to give the Seraphs a 44-41 lead.  After scoring 25 points in the first three quarters, Mater Dei outscored CBA 25-7 in the 4th quarter.  Bryan Harris had 14 points to lead Mater Dei, Nyke McCombs added 12 points and Eliljah Barnes had 10.  Jack Maguire led CBA with 15 points, while Pat Andree had 14 points and 14 rebounds.  It’s CBA’s third straight loss in the Shore Conference championship game.   We’ve got the extraordinary comeback and the emotion of Mater Dei celebrating the title:

 

 

Breaking down the comeback

  • Mater Dei trailed CBA 36-18 with 1:15 to go in the 3rd quarter and went on an 11-0 run to get within 36-29
  • With 3:35 left in the game, CBA had a 41-31 lead.  Mater Dei closed the game with a 19-2 to shock the Colts
  • CBA led the game for over 28 minutes, Mater Dei only led for the final 39 seconds of the game.
