Saint Rose was never your typical #5 seed.  In the deep talent pool of Shore Conference girls basketball, the Purple Roses knocked off #4, #1 and #3 to win a Shore Conference girls championship.  SSZ has extended highlights and post-game reaction of the Roses 56-31 win over Saint John Vianney at Monmouth University

Saint Rose 56 Saint John Vianney 31

The Purple Roses used a 17-2 third quarter to dominate its way to a Shore Conference championship.  Leading 22-19 at the half, the Roses limited SJV to one of ten shooting and Jen Louro closed out the third with a three pointer and an off balanced shot on an offensive rebound at the buzzer to take a 39-21 lead.  Saint Rose stayed persistent in the fourth quarter.  Lucy Thomas led the way with 15, Louro had 13 and earned MVP honors and Elizabeth Marsicano added 11 points.  The #5 seed no doubt earned the 2017 SCT title with an overtime win against #1 seed Manasquan and knocking off the defending champs in the title game.  Watch the highlights from Saturday night at Monmouth:
