Riley Kernan’s base hit up the middle scored Christine Gebhardt in the bottom of the 8th inning to give the Lions a Shore Conference championship over its archrival. The Lions stunned previously unbeaten Saint John Vianney and held off Donovan Catholic 15-14 on the way to the title. Kernan was tremendous on the hill giving up just two hits and striking out six. The Eagles still in the hunt for a state crown
Middletown South saw its 14 game win streak snapped by Middletown North, who was the last team to beat the Eagles on April 30th. Middletown South has to regroup as it plays for a Group 3 state championship on Friday at 5:30 pm on the campus of Kean University against Sparta. SSZ will be there to bring you all the action.
