The Shore Conference is making noise in the state hockey playoffs. SSZ has a full night of playoff hockey. In our US Army Hockey Game of the Week, Travis Yawger stepped up with a hat trick in Middletown South’s 8-1 win over Jackson Liberty. Travis Yawger scored three goals as part of a six goal second period as the Eagles cruised into the quarterfinals of the Public “B” state playoffs. Middletown South had a 19-4 shots on goal advantage in the first period, but a Joe Granza backhand got Jackson Liberty even at one at the end of the first period. But the Eagles dominated the second period on the way to their 18th victory. Ryan D’Emilia had one goal and three assists and Mike Racioppi had three assists in the win. Mike Kwiecinski and Jaxson Mase each scored a pair of goals to give the #11 seed an uspet win in the second round of the Public “A” playoffs. Kwiecinski and Mase scored in a span of 50 seconds early in the second period to jump out to a 3-1 lead. Tyler McNamara’s score in the opening minute of the third period got the Patriots within 3-2, but Freehold Township would never draw even. A great season for the Patriots comes to a close with an 18-5-1 record. Watch the highlights from Friday night:
