Julia Blarr set the tone with a 2-run homer in the first and Maddie McMahon threw seven strong innings giving up just one run as Middletown South claimed the Group 3 state softball championship at Kean University. The Eagles had just 2 hits in the Shore Conference finals at Wall High on Thursday, but exploded for 10 hits and 8 runs. Nicki Curran pounded a double off the wall in left for an RBI double in the 2nd and Ally Massa and Alex Corrigan each had a pair of 2-run hits.
